WHY LUOWEI MEDICAL AESTHETICS CLINIC

Why Choose Luowei Medical Aesthetics Clinic for Filler Chin Augmentation in Nanjing

The chin is the visual anchor of facial contour — it defines the lateral E-line, the proportions of the lower face, and the fluidity of the jawline. A 2 mm error in 3D vector placement can turn an elegantly natural result into a “shoe-horn face” or an overprojected, witchy chin. Our physician’s approach centers on deep expertise in Asian mandibular anatomy, Volux® high-G′ filler support technology, and precise chin aesthetic proportioning — placing every injection accurately within the target periosteal or soft-tissue plane.

SPECIALIST

Specialist in Asian mandibular anatomy

Our physician has developed a systematic injection protocol tailored to the skeletal characteristics most common among Asian patients — including chin recession, short chin, and wide chin. Our physician's approach is grounded in a thorough understanding of the fundamental differences in chin bone structure between East Asian and Caucasian patients, avoiding the “full and rounded” Western standard that can result in a shoehorn-shaped profile or an unintentionally masculine appearance.

FULL PLATFORM

Juvéderm Full Juvéderm® range + Restylane® / RHA fully stocked

The clinic is also equipped with Juvéderm Volux®/ Voluma® / Restylane Lyft / RHA 4 Among high-support products of comparable strength, our physician selects the most appropriate hyaluronic acid brand and cross-linking technology based on your bone structure, soft-tissue thickness, and desired longevity.

LANGUAGE SUPPORT

Mandarin consultations with real-time interpreter devices

Chin contouring is a highly individualized aesthetic procedure. Consultations are conducted in Mandarin, with real-time interpretation into English and other languages through professional translation devices. Our physician uses facial proportion mapping and 3D simulation tools to confirm every millimeter of your target outcome together with you.

Clinic Credentials & Product Sourcing:
  • NMPA-registered · Allergan/AbbVie domestic cold chain— All Juvéderm Volux® / Voluma® products are sourced directly through Chinese distribution channels with full lot traceability

WHAT IS IT

What Is Filler Chin Augmentation?

Filler chin augmentation refers to the technique of placing High cross-link density, high-G-prime (elastic modulus) hyaluronic acid A non-surgical contouring procedure in which filler is placed at the supraperiosteal and deep subcutaneous levels of the chin to simulate skeletal augmentation, reposition the anterior chin projection, improve the lateral profile E-line, and refine lower facial proportions. It is A reversible alternative to orthognathic surgery and chin implants.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a polysaccharide molecule naturally present in the human dermis. Through BDDE chemical cross-linking forming an injectable gel. HA products specifically engineered for chin augmentation — such as Juvéderm Volux® — offer Exceptionally high G’ elastic modulus (approximately 600 Pa) and high cohesivity, providing bone-like supraperiosteal support after injection that closely mimics Structural support, Counteracting masticatory muscle tension and gravitational descent.

Each syringe of Juvéderm Volux® contains 1.0 mL of hyaluronic acid at 25 mg/mL with 0.3% lidocaine. Once injected, the HA gel establishes Three-dimensional support vectors: downward extension of chin height, forward projection of the pogonion, and lateral shaping of the para-chin transition. This structural support lasts 18–24 months — significantly longer than the 9–12 months typical of standard facial fillers.

Device / product technical specifications

  • Primary recommended product Juvéderm Volux® XC (Allergan)
  • Cross-linking technology VYCROSS® Patented cross-linking technology (mixed high- and low-molecular-weight HA)
  • HA Concentration 25 mg/mL · Contains 0.3% lidocaine
  • G’ Elastic modulus (G’)Approximately 600 Pa (among the highest in its class)
  • Onset time Immediate results · Fully integrated at 2 weeks
  • Duration of Results 18-24 months (some patients 24 months+)
  • Single-session volume 1.0-3.0 mL (depending on degree of retrusion)

Comparative Overview of Commonly Used HA Products for Chin Augmentation

product G’ modulus Maintenance period
Volux® ~600 Pa 18-24 month
Voluma® ~270 Pa 12-18 month
Restylane Lyft ~450 Pa 12-18 month
RHA 4 ~400 Pa 12-15 month

Note: G′ = storage modulus, a measure of a gel’s resistance to deformation. Because the chin is subject to chewing forces and dynamic facial movement, a high-G′ product is required for lasting structural support.

Why Choose Juvéderm Volux®? This is the world’s first Specifically designed for jawline contouring and chin sculpting HA filler (NMPA-registered / NMPA-registered 2022) with the highest G’ modulus and longest durability in its class. For the characteristically Asian concerns of a short, recessed chin with limited skeletal projection, the periosteal support provided by Volux® offers a clinical advantage that standard facial HA fillers cannot replicate.
HOW IT WORKS

How Filler Chin Augmentation Works

Filler chin augmentation is not simply a matter of “filling” the chin — it works by 3D Vector-based injection + deep supraperiosteal support + soft-tissue transition contouring Three structural layers working in synergy. Our physician’s injection philosophy:First establish the skeletal foundation, then sculpt the contour, then refine the soft tissue, Each anatomical layer has its own distinct treatment objective.

1

3D Facial Assessment & Aesthetic Measurement

Our physician uses multiple measurement tools — including the Ricketts E-line (nasal tip to pogonion), Steiner S-line, and the classical facial thirds and fifths proportions — to assess the degree of chin retrusion, labiomental fold depth, and cervicomental angle definition. For Asian women, the ideal chin position places the lower lip at or 1–2 mm behind the E-line; for men, the lower lip may sit on or just at the E-line.

2

Injection vector and point mapping

Our physician uses a medical marking pen to identify 3–5 key injection points: the Pogonion (central chin projection point) + Para-pogonion (bilateral chin points) + Sublabial transition point. The following structures are also marked:Avoid‘s mental artery anatomy and mental foramen location, to prevent vascular occlusion and nerve injury.

3

Deep Periosteal Injection (Bolus Technique)

A 27G sharp needle is advanced vertically to the periosteal surface, and 0.3–0.5 mL is deposited slowly to form a supportive bolus. The high G’ of Volux® allows the gel to project upright on the periosteum rather than spreading flat, establishing both vertical and lateral support vectors comparable to native bone. Aspiration is performed at every injection point to confirm the absence of blood before any product is delivered.

4

Soft tissue layer contouring and transition shaping (blunt cannula technique)

A 25G blunt-tip cannula is introduced through a single submental entry point and fanned outward to create a smooth transition between the periosteal bolus and surrounding soft tissue, eliminating any “ball-like” projection. Compared to sharp needles, cannulas are superior at navigating around blood vessels, reducing the risk of bruising and vascular occlusion.

5

2 Integration period of several weeks · 18–24 months of duration

Within 2 weeks post-injection, the hyaluronic acid fully absorbs water and expands to its final volume (the immediate result represents approximately 80% of the final outcome). Results last 18–24 months, during which the HA gradually degrades via hyaluronidase activity. A top-up assessment at month 12 is recommended — typically 0.5–1.0 mL — to maintain the optimal contour. Repeated sessions progressively stabilize the chin foundation over time.

VASCULAR SAFETY · Vascular safety as the cornerstone

Chin Injection Risk Management

perimental distribution Mental artery and its anastomotic branches with the inferior labial artery, The chin is a high-risk injection zone. An intravascular occlusion in this area can result in necrosis of the lower lip. Our physician reduces vascular risk to an extremely low level through three layers of protection: precise anatomical landmark identification, preferential use of blunt cannulas, and aspiration confirmation before every injection.

01

Mental foramen anatomical identification

Pre-injection palpation to locate bilateral mental foramina (approximately 1 cm below the second premolars) · Injection vectors planned to avoid nerve branches

02

Combined blunt cannula and sharp needle technique

Sharp needle for supraperiosteal bolus · Cannula for soft-tissue transition · Cannula less likely to penetrate vessel walls

03

Slow injection + aspiration confirmation

Aspirate for 5 seconds at each injection point before injecting · Controlled single-point injection speed < 0.3 mL / minutes · Hyaluronidase kept on-site for emergency use

CANDIDACY

Am I a Candidate for Filler Chin Augmentation?

Before your consultation, you can do a quick self-assessment: take a true 90° lateral profile photo, draw a straight line from the nasal tip to the chin point, and check whether the lower lip protrudes more than 2 mm beyond that line. However, candidacy ultimately requires our physician’s comprehensive evaluation — including 3D assessment, skeletal measurements, and soft-tissue thickness analysis.

✓ GOOD CANDIDATE

You may be a good candidate if…

  • Significant chin retrusion · abnormal E-line in profile · bird-beak facial profile
  • Short chin · insufficient vertical chin height · round chin
  • Deep mentolabial fold · Abrupt transition between the lower lip and chin
  • Poorly defined cervicomental angle · Early-stage double chin (mild)
  • Disproportionate lower face from the front · Round face seeking elongation
  • Prefer to avoid orthognathic surgery or chin implants · seeking a reversible option
  • Age 18 or older · Skeletal maturity confirmed (females 18+, males 21+)
  • Has realistic expectations for outcomes · Accepts an 18–24 month maintenance cycle
✕ NOT SUITABLE

Treatment is not recommended if any of the following apply…

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Severe skeletal Class II malocclusion (orthodontic or orthognathic surgery is recommended instead)
  • Active infection, rash, or herpes simplex at the injection site
  • Known allergy to hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, or gram-positive bacterial proteins
  • Active autoimmune disease (e.g., lupus erythematosus, scleroderma)
  • Patients with unresolved serious complications from prior injections at another clinic
  • History of lower lip necrosis or chin ischemia
  • Patients seeking an extremely sharp, pointed chin result (not recommended within Asian aesthetic standards)

Chin Concern Type × Treatment Options × our physician’s Protocol

Different chin concerns require entirely different injection approaches — dosage and vector selection are critical:

Concern type Presentation Hyaluronic Acid Efficacy Our physician’s Protocol
Mild recession E-line 2–4 mm retrusion ★★★★★ First choice Volux® 1.0-1.5 mL
Moderate retrusion + short chin 4–7 mm posterior recession · Insufficient vertical projection ★★★★★ First choice Volux® 2.0-3.0 mL sessions
Round chin + wide lower jaw Rounded lower face from the front ★★★★ Requires combination with Volux® + Masseter Botox®
“Orange peel” chin texture Uneven dynamic contraction of the mentalis muscle ★★★ Requires combination with Mentalis Botox® + Filler
Skeletal Class II (severe) SNB < 75° · 8 mm+ ★★ Limited results Orthognathic surgery / implant recommended
YOUR JOURNEY

Treatment Planning for Filler Chin Augmentation in Nanjing

Chin sculpting is the “cornerstone” of facial contouring. Every treatment plan is personally designed and injected by our physician — never delegated to a technician. We follow a staged, cumulative approach: rather than over-filling in a single session and risking a shoe-horn or witch’s chin, we prefer 2–3 carefully calibrated sessions for a refined, natural result.

1

Initial consultation and 3D facial assessment

Free 30-Minute Consultation, including lateral profile E-line measurement, facial thirds and fifths proportion analysis, and vertical/horizontal chin dimension assessment. Standardized pre-procedure photography is taken as needed.

2

Vector Planning & Product Selection

Based on each patient’s underlying bone structure, soft tissue thickness, and aesthetic goals, our physician selects the most appropriate filler — Volux®, Voluma®, or Restylane Lyft — and maps out precise injection volumes and vector placements across both the periosteal and soft tissue layers.

3

4 Week follow-up · Fine-tuning touch-up

A follow-up visit at week 4 post-injection allows our physician to assess the settled contour and, if needed, add 0.5–1.0 mL to refine symmetry, vector direction, or transition smoothness. Most patients are satisfied after a single session.

4

Maintenance treatment every 18–24 months

HA At month 12, 60%+ of the original volume is typically retained; a top-up assessment is recommended at month 18. Over the long term, repeated treatments stimulate a collagen response in the chin’s soft tissue, gradually reducing the volume needed at each subsequent session.

Typical Treatment Timeline

Filler chin augmentation is a medium-to-long-term maintenance treatment. Below is a typical timeline from the first injection to a stable result:

timeline Content
Day 0 Free 30-Minute Consultation · 3D assessment + personalized treatment plan
Day of Injection 45-60 Minute injection session · Topical anesthesia + lidocaine blend · Minimal downtime — walk in, walk out
Days 1–3 Mild swelling · immediate visible result · approximately 70% of swelling resolves by day 3
Week 2 Full HA integration achieved · Final result stable
Week 4 Follow-up assessment · Touch-up refinement as needed
Month 18–24 Assess whether a top-up is needed for maintenance · Long-term cumulative treatments progressively stabilize the chin foundation

The exact volume and treatment interval are customized by our physician following your consultation, based on your bone structure, soft-tissue thickness, and aesthetic goals.

WHAT IT TREATS

Indications Addressable with Filler Chin Augmentation

Filler chin augmentation is far more than simply “lengthening the chin” — it is a core tool for rebalancing the lower third of the face. From lateral profile refinement to achieving a more defined frontal V-shape, it addresses a wide range of skeletal and soft-tissue concerns commonly seen in Asian patients.

SIDE PROFILE

Recessed chin (bird-beak profile)

The chin is retruded relative to the lower lip, creating a flat lateral profile. Deep periosteal injection with Volux® establishes the correct pogonion projection vector and improves the Ricketts E-line.

1.0-3.0 mL / Every 18–24 months

PROPORTION

Short chin (insufficient vertical height)

The distance from the lower lip to the chin tip is too short, disrupting the lower-third facial proportion. A downward projection vector lengthens the lower face and addresses a “baby-faced, flat” appearance.

1.5-2.5 mL / Every 18 months

CONTOUR

Round chin / wide lower jaw

A rounded lower face lacking a V-shaped contour. Vertical chin elongation combined with masseter Botox® to narrow the horizontal width — together establishing an inverted-triangle facial silhouette.

1.5-2.0 mL + Botox Combined

SUBLABIAL

Deep mentolabial fold

An overly deep labiomental crease creates the illusion of a double chin. Mid-depth filler placement softens this transition for a natural, seamless contour.

0.5-1.0 mL / Every 12–18 months

JAWLINE

Poorly defined cervicomental angle

Insufficient chin projection resulting in an obtuse cervicomental angle. Combined treatment targeting the lateral chin point and jawline to reconstruct the mandibular arc.

2.0-4.0 mL (including the mandibular border)

DYNAMIC

“Orange peel” chin texture (mentalis muscle hypertrophy)

Overactive mentalis muscle causing dynamic surface irregularity. Protocol: Botox® to the mentalis (4 U) first, followed by filler placement 4 weeks later.

Botox 4 U + Volux 1.0 mL

CORRECTION

Correction of previous unsatisfactory injections

For patients with overfilling, filler migration, or uneven contour from previous treatments elsewhere: hyaluronic acid (HA) filler enzymatic dissolution is performed first, followed by our physician’s personalized vector contouring plan 4 weeks later.

Dissolution + Recontouring (2-stage approach)

MALE

Square chin contouring for male patients

Male patients often prefer a more angular, square chin contour. A vector targeting the pogonion and bilateral para-pogonion points establishes a stronger, more defined jawline.

2.0-3.0 mL / Every 18–24 months

Filler Chin Augmentation Injection treatment (45 minutes) 0 Recovery period Dissolvable
Chin implant Intraoral surgical approach 2-4 week Requires surgical removal
Genioplasty (osteotomy) Osteotomy + titanium plate fixation 6-8 week irreversible
Orthognathic surgery General anesthesia + bimaxillary osteotomy 3-6 month irreversible
Autologous fat transfer Lipolysis + chin filler injection 2-4 week irreversible

WHY THIS MATTERS

Filler chin augmentation is not a one-size-fits-all procedure where more volume automatically means better results

The chin region contains the mental artery, anastomotic branches of the inferior labial artery, and branches of the mental nerve. Incorrect injection vectors or excessive volume can result in a shoe-horn chin, witch’s chin, or lower lip necrosis. The difference between elegant Asian aesthetics and an “implant-like, masculinized, or asymmetric” outcome comes down to the physician’s genuine understanding of your mandibular anatomy and facial proportions.

Our physician’s clinical insights into Asian jawline contouring have become a reference standard for peer training across China.

PRICING PHILOSOPHY

Pricing for Filler Chin Augmentation

Many clients ask: “Why is there such a wide price range for chin augmentation across different clinics?” The answer goes beyond the brand or volume of hyaluronic acid used — it depends on Who is assessing, who is making the clinical judgment, and how much experience is required to perform the treatment safely. The chin is one of the most anatomically complex vascular regions of the face. A 2 mm deviation in injection vector can turn an elegant, natural result into an unnatural “shoehorn” profile, and excessive volume can risk inferior labial artery occlusion. For this reason, chin augmentation is always assessed and performed personally by our physician. The time our physician invests, the precise anatomical judgment of your skeletal foundation, and the command of Asian facial proportions are themselves clinical resources. Patients with mild recession may achieve a natural improvement with as little as 1.0 mL; those with moderate-to-severe recession, prior revision cases, or goals that include combined jawline and masseter contouring require careful, staged volume building under the physician’s close guidance. plan. Our guiding principle is:Treatment should be guided by your skeletal anatomy and aesthetic goals — not by price. Following your Free 30-Minute Consultation, our physician will provide a transparent, personalized treatment plan with clear pricing based on your individual needs.

They are not an assessment of this clinic, and no published study can tell you whether it suits your skin type, anatomy, or medical history.
