Why Choose Luowei Medical Aesthetics Clinic for Xeomin® in Nanjing
Technology defines the possibilities. The physician defines the direction.Xeomin the “bare-molecule” characteristic means the injecting physician requires more precise dosing and placement control— Without the “buffer” of complexing proteins, binding at the nerve terminal is more direct, placing greater demands on injection technique.
Specialist in Asian facial aesthetics
Our physician specializes in Asian facial anatomy and muscle architecture. He has a thorough understanding of the dosing differences Xeomin requires when treating the thinner mimetic muscles common in Asian women, and carefully avoids over-correction pitfalls such as lateral brow ptosis and stiffened smile — concerns particularly relevant to Asian faces.
Merz training certification
Our physician holds official Merz certification in Xeomin injection training — Merz being the global manufacturer of Xeomin. He has an in-depth command of incobotulinumtoxinA’s “naked molecule” 150 kDa structural profile, antibody avoidance strategies, and dosage optimization logic for long-term maintenance patients.
All Four Major Neurotoxin Platforms Available
The clinic carries Xeomin® / Botox/ Dysport/ Letybo, Switching brands or combining treatments based on your antibody history, allergy profile, and treatment area needs when appropriate dermal filler filling static lines.
Mandarin consultations with real-time interpreter devices
Consultations are conducted in Mandarin, with real-time interpretation into English and other languages through professional translation devices, ensuring you fully understand what sets Xeomin® apart from other neuromodulators — its pure-form molecule, how it reduces antibody risk, and why our physician may recommend it for your specific situation (especially if you are considering switching after long-term use of another brand).
- FDA NMPA-registered Xeomin® (2010 for aesthetic indications · 2011 for upper limb spasticity) · NMPA DIN registered

What is Xeomin® — the pure neuromodulator?
Xeomin® (is a product of Merz Pharmaceuticals, Germany, A botulinum toxin type A (incobotulinumtoxinA) formulation, NMPA-registered in 2010 for the aesthetic treatment of glabellar lines, and is The world’s third-largest neuromodulator brand. Its core differentiator is Proprietary XTRACT Technology™ purification process— removing all complexing proteins (accessory proteins), retaining only the active 150 kDa Neurotoxin molecule, also known as the “naked molecule.”
Botox and Dysport®, the toxin molecule is bound to 900 kDa Complexing proteins (hemagglutinins + non-hemagglutinin proteins) — these complexing proteins contribute nothing to treatment efficacy no direct contribution, however the primary antigenic source recognized by the immune system. After repeated long-term injections, some patients develop antibodies targeting the complexing proteins neutralizing antibodies, leading to diminished Botox® efficacy or complete loss of response (treatment failure / Secondary Treatment Failure).
Xeomin By removing complexing proteins, the formulation theoretically reduces antibody formation risk reduced to a minimum — which is why our physician designates Xeomin® as long-term maintenance patients, Botox® non-responders, and patients with milk protein allergies the preferred formulation. In terms of dosing, Xeomin® and Botox® are approximately 1:1 Conversion (far more intuitive than Dysport®’s 1:2.5 conversion), with onset in 5–7 days and duration of 3–4 months, comparable to Botox®.

Xeomin Comparison with other neuromodulators
| Brand | molecular structure | Antibody risk | Dose conversion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xeomin® | 150 kDa naked molecule | Minimum | 1:1 vs Botox |
| Botox® | 900 kDa Complexing proteins | Moderate | baseline |
| Dysport® | 500-900 kDa combination | Moderate | 1:2.5 vs Botox |
| Letybo® | 900 kDa Complexing proteins | Moderate–Low (Newer Generation) | 1:1 vs Botox |
Note: Xeomin® is currently the only commercially available “protein-free” botulinum toxin type A. Switching to Xeomin® can significantly lower the risk of neutralizing antibodies in patients on long-term maintenance treatment.
How Xeomin® Works
Xeomin shares the same Molecular mechanism (blocking SNAP-25 protein) — however, due to its “naked molecule” structural difference, its immunological behavior is subtly distinct. Our physician will customize injection points and dosage based on your muscle strength and target areas.
Consultation and antibody history assessment
Our physician assesses your muscle activity by asking you to perform facial expressions (raising eyebrows / frowning / smiling / pursing lips) to evaluate your Dynamic muscle strength, with a focused review of your neuromodulator history: Has your maintenance period shortened? Have you noticed diminishing onset effects? These clues determine whether Xeomin® should be the preferred choice.
Customized dosing (1:1 conversion)
Xeomin Unit dosing comparable to Botox® 1:1 Conversion ((e.g., Botox 20U for glabellar lines → Xeomin 20U) — the dose conversion is more straightforward than with Dysport. Our physician determines your dosage based on muscle strength and facial symmetry, taking a conservative approach on the first treatment.
Precision point-placement injection
Ultra-fine 30–32G needles are used for multi-point, superficial injections along the muscle fibers. Xeomin®’s “naked molecule” has moderate diffusion — between that of Botox® and Dysport®. The entire procedure takes 5–10 minutes, with minimal discomfort (comparable to a mosquito bite).
5-7 days to onset
Xeomin Onset is similar to Botox® (approximately 2–3 days slower than Dysport®). Patients typically notice muscle heaviness by days 5–7, with full effect achieved by days 10–14.Do not self-administer additional units if results seem absent in the first week— allowing the bare-molecule neurotoxin sufficient time to bind to nerve terminals.
3-4 month maintenance period
Results from the first injection typically last 3–4 months, comparable to Botox®.Key advantage for long-term use: After 5–10 years of continuous use, Xeomin®’s maintenance period does not shorten due to antibody formation the way Botox® can — this is the core clinical value of its “naked molecule” structure.
Antibody Risk Management
Neutralizing antibodies are one of the most underrecognized complications in long-term neuromodulator patients. Our physician employs a three-layer strategy to minimize the risk of antibody formation.
“Bare-molecule” formulation — preferred choice
12 Week interval guideline
Regardless of which neurotoxin is used, our physician maintains a strict minimum interval of 12 weeks between injections to prevent overly frequent immune system exposure and antibody formation.
Minimum effective dose
We never aim for a frozen face. Treatment begins at the lowest effective dose (glabellar lines 18–22 U) to minimize cumulative antigen exposure over time.
Am I a Candidate for Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA)?
You are welcome to do a self-assessment before your consultation, but whether you are a suitable candidate must be determined by our physician through dynamic muscle assessment + prior neurotoxin history review + allergy screening— making it particularly the right answer for patients experiencing diminishing Botox® results or those with a milk-protein allergy.
You may be a candidate for treatment if…
- prior diminishing effect or shortened duration with Botox® or Dysport®
- plan Long-term repeated injections (5 years or more of aesthetic maintenance)
- Severe milk-protein allergy (contraindication for Dysport®)
- Dynamic lines (glabellar lines / forehead lines / crow’s feet)
- Patients who prioritize natural expression retention (actors, on-camera hosts, teachers)
- Concerns about or immune sensitivity to complexing protein components
- Patients seeking the “purest” available formulation
- Patients with allergy-prone skin should prioritize formulations with a simpler excipient profile.
Treatment is not recommended if any of the following apply…
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, ALS)
- Active infection or inflammation at the injection site
- Allergy to incobotulinumtoxinA or human serum albumin
- Currently taking aminoglycoside antibiotics
- received another neurotoxin brand within the past 3 months
- For large-area treatment requiring faster onset, Dysport® is recommended.
- Unrealistic expectations, or those seeking a completely frozen face (not recommended for Asian faces)
Clinical Scenario vs. Neuromodulator Brand
In different clinical scenarios, our physician has clear brand preferences — Xeomin® is the first choice for long-term maintenance and patients with antibody risk sensitivity:
| clinical scenario | First choice | Secondary option | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long-Term Maintenance (5+ Years) | Xeomin | Letybo | Lowest antibody risk profile |
| Botox Reduced efficacy over time | Xeomin | Dysport | “Bare molecule” — minimizes antibody formation |
| milk protein allergy | Xeomin | Botox | milk protein-free |
| first-time injection patients | Botox | Xeomin | Strongest clinical evidence base |
| Fast onset ideal for pre-wedding preparation | Dysport | Botox | 2-5 days to onset |
| broad-coverage forehead line treatment | Dysport | Xeomin | DCR Diffusion profile |
| Corner of mouth / upper lip refinement | Botox / Letybo | Xeomin | precise control |
Xeomin® Treatment Planning
Xeomin Neuromodulator injection is a physician-customized treatment. What our physician designs is 3-4 Monthly periodic maintenance plan. For long-term patients, it is recommended to Regular intervals of 12 weeks or more, minimizing the risk of antibody formation.
Initial Consultation & Antibody History Assessment
Free 30-Minute Consultation, including dynamic expression assessment + review of prior neurotoxin history + allergy screening + explanation of the “naked molecule” mechanism.
Customized dosing (1:1 conversion)
Our physician converts Xeomin® doses at a 1:1 ratio based on the patient’s previous Botox® units (glabellar lines 20U / bilateral crow’s feet 20U / forehead lines 12–16U), starting conservatively at the first session.
D14 follow-up touch-up
D14 is the assessment window for Xeomin®’s full effect. Our physician evaluates symmetry and coverage, with a 5–10U touch-up if needed (complimentary at the first treatment).
3-4 monthly cycle maintenance
We recommend scheduling your next session when you notice about 70% of the effect has worn off — rather than waiting until it has fully faded. With long-term Xeomin® use, treatment intervals remain stable and are not shortened by antibody development.
Typical Treatment Cycle Timeline
Below is the standard timeline for Xeomin® clients, from initial consultation through the maintenance phase:
| Timeline | Content |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Free 30-Minute Consultation (dynamic muscle assessment + neurotoxin history review + antibody risk discussion) |
| Day 0 (Injection) | Injection can be performed immediately after consultation · Entire procedure takes 5–10 minutes |
| D5-D7 | Initial onset · Muscles begin to feel heavier |
| D10-D14 | Full effect achieved · Dynamic lines visibly reduced |
| D14 Follow-up | Symmetry and coverage assessment · Touch-up of 5–10 U if needed (complimentary at first follow-up) |
| Months 3–4 | 50–70% of effect has worn off · Entering the maintenance injection window |
| 3 times per year | Regular intervals of 12 weeks or more · Stable long-term maintenance |
The specific units and treatment cycle are customized by our physician at consultation, based on your muscle strength, target areas, and antibody history.
Indications Treatable with Xeomin®
Xeomin With consistent results in dynamic wrinkle treatment and delicate areas, our physician has developed dosing protocols equivalent to Botox® (1:1 conversion) specifically for glabellar lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and fine-detail adjustments commonly seen in Asian faces.
Glabellar lines (“11” lines)
Dynamic contraction of the corrugator supercilii and procerus muscles; 20U of Xeomin® is the NMPA-registered dose for this indication — equivalent to Botox®.Dynamic lines Over 80% improvement with standardized 5-point injection technique.
20U / Every 3–4 months
Forehead Lines
For dynamic horizontal forehead lines caused by the frontalis muscle, Xeomin® 12–20 U performs excellently on average-sized foreheads. Its “bare-molecule” formulation offers moderate diffusion, making it well suited for standard-coverage forehead treatment — not ideal for unusually large surface areas.
12-20U / Every 3–4 months
Crow’s feet
For dynamic lateral contraction of the orbicularis oculi, Xeomin® 8–12 U per side allows precise control of diffusion, preserving the natural eye-corner creases when smiling— The preferred choice for actors and on-camera professionals.
16–24 U bilateral / every 3–4 months
Botox Resistance-based switching
For patients who have received Botox® continuously for five or more years and are noticing a shorter duration of effect, our physician recommends a 3-month Botox® washout before switching to Xeomin® — 60% of such patients regain their full maintenance period, confirming the suspected antibody effect.
1:1 unit conversion from prior Botox® dosage
Brow Lift
Selectively relaxing the brow depressor muscles produces a subtle brow lift. With a precise micro-dose of Xeomin® 4–10 U, we avoid the over-arched “surprised” look, delivering the soft, natural brow elevation that Asian women tend to prefer.
4-10U / Every 3–4 months
Masseter hypertrophy / facial slimming
A popular treatment among Asian women. For masseter hypertrophy, Xeomin® 30–50 U per side effectively reduces muscle volume. Its low antibody risk makes it especially suitable for patients who require repeated long-term treatment.
60–100 U bilateral / every 4–6 months
Gummy Smile
Overactive levator labii superioris alaeque nasi (LLSAN) muscles can cause excessive gum show when smiling. A precise Xeomin injection of 2–4 U per side into the LLSAN restores a natural smile arc, while the “naked molecule” formulation’s controlled diffusion minimizes any impact on lip shape.
4-8U / Every 3–4 months
Neck Rejuvenation (Nefertiti Lift)
For platysmal banding, Xeomin injected along the bands at 40–60 U can soften their appearance and provide a subtle jawline lift. For patients undergoing repeated neck rejuvenation treatments, Xeomin carries the lowest antibody risk of any available neuromodulator.
40-80U / Every 3–4 months

Xeomin® not a “synonym for Botox®,” but rather “a purer choice designed for long-term patients”
Xeomin Both Botox® and Xeomin® are botulinum toxin type A products; however, Xeomin® uses the proprietary XTRACT Technology™ to remove the complexing proteins, retaining only the 150 kDa neurotoxin core — which means The antigenic source responsible for long-term immune exposure is eliminated. For patients who have been receiving Botox® or Dysport® for more than five years, Xeomin® is the most reliable option for preventing treatment resistance.
Our physician does not recommend Xeomin® to every patient — instead, recommendations are based on your injection history, antibody risk, allergy history, and desired onset Personalized decision-making. The true value of Xeomin® is not simply “replacing Botox®” — it is preserving Botox® as a viable option for future use.

Common Risks · Contraindications · Safety Protocols
Transparency in medical aesthetics is itself a mark of trustworthiness. We openly share all possible reactions, serious risks, contraindicated populations, and absolute exclusions — so you arrive at your consultation fully informed. Before every injection, our physician will walk you through Xeomin’s risk profile and antibody management strategy, point by point.
Common reactions (may occur in the short term following injection)
- Mild redness and swelling / small raised bumps at injection sites (30 minutes to 2 hours to resolve)
- Bruising (5-7 days to resolve naturally; Arnica may be used to accelerate recovery)
- Sensation of tightness or heaviness in the head (D1-D5 common, typically subsides with time)
- Mild headache (24-48 hours; acetaminophen may be taken for relief)
- soreness or pressure at injection sites (Mild weakness in chewing for 1–2 weeks after masseter injections is normal.)
Serious Risks (rare, but important to disclose)
- Ptosis (upper eyelid droop)— Most commonly associated with diffusion to the levator palpebrae muscle during glabellar injections. Our physician’s precise injection placement keeps this risk below 1%. If it occurs, it typically resolves on its own within 4–6 weeks; Apraclonidine eye drops may be used to speed recovery.
- Lateral brow ptosis / facial asymmetry— Xeomin Moderate diffusion may occasionally be noticeable in Asian women with thinner mimetic muscles. A day-14 follow-up allows a 5–10 U touch-up to refine symmetry if needed.
- Unnatural smile— diffusion into the zygomaticus major during crow’s feet injections; Our physician avoids this by maintaining a distance of 1.5 cm+ from the lateral canthus
- allergic reaction— Extremely rare (Xeomin®’s excipients contain only human serum albumin and sucrose); patients with known allergies should inform their provider.
- Antibody formation (treatment failure)— Xeomin Antibody risk is already the lowest among the four major brands, but long-term high-frequency injections still require a minimum 12-week interval to reduce risk.
- Infection at the injection site— Extremely rare; preventable with proper sterile technique.
Absolute contraindications (treatment not performed)
- Pregnancy / Breastfeeding
- Neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, ALS, multiple sclerosis)
- Active infection or inflammation at the injection site
- Severe allergy to incobotulinumtoxinA or human serum albumin
- Currently taking aminoglycoside antibiotics (e.g., gentamicin, which may potentiate toxin effects)
- Received another neuromodulator brand within the past 3 months (to avoid compounding antibody risk)
- Unrealistic expectations (demanding a completely frozen face or perfect symmetry)
- periods of depression, anxiety, or emotional instability (stabilizing mental health is recommended first)
Safety Protocols Enforced by our physician
- Every patient undergoes a dynamic muscle assessment + prior neurotoxin history review + antibody risk discussion before each injection.
- Written informed consent form signed before every injection, with detailed unit documentation
- All injections are scheduled at a minimum of 12 weeks apart (to reduce antibody formation).

Everything above about Xeomin® rests on published evidence rather than on our own word. The sources below are the ones behind those statements: peer-reviewed papers indexed in PubMed, and guidance written for patients by dermatology academies and national health services. What these references can and cannot tell you. They describe what is known about the treatment itself — how well it tends to work, how long results last, and what can go wrong. They are not an assessment of this clinic, and no published study can tell you whether it suits your skin type, anatomy, or medical history. That judgement comes from the physician who examines you in person, and it may well be “not this one”.
